Art should be central to the learning and growing process because it provides unique ways of knowing about the world.  Skills in art can bring enormous pleasure and self-satisfaction as well as expand ones’ individuality. Art is a wonderful means for communicating ones individually and expressing their unique heritage.

The visual arts provide insight into the past, enrich the present and develop an awareness of the dignity and beauty in a satisfaction with everyday life.  The personal involvement in art encourages cultural and skills growth which aid in the creative and aesthetic development of not only the talented, but in every student.

Everyone is born with the power to create, to be original, spontaneous, and innovative.  I hope to create the climate, provide the encouragement, and supply the material needed for the individual to develop their innate creativity to the fullest.  To ensure a continuous adventure in learning, as an instructor, I plan to keep abreast of techniques, materials, and the ever expanding wealth of knowledge available today.

I passionately believe art is a highly diverse range of creating visual, auditory, or performed artifacts or artworks that express the author’s imaginative or technical skill, and are intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. I believe that art cannot always be defined. The creator has their own way of making their art each time and I believe that is what makes art worthwhile. I do not think art is worthless so to the fact that art gives some people a purpose and that is their passion. Those creating work that means something to them could never be considered worthless, in my opinion. Some artwork may be out of our comprehension and we may not understand why a certain piece were ever created, but I still do not think it would ever be worthless. Beautiful is pleasing the senses or mind aesthetically. What I consider to be beautiful is artwork that clearly demonstrates how the creator was feeling at that time. They may feel sad and they might create a darker toned artwork, or they might feel happy and create something with bright colors. There is beauty in the value in simplicity, mark making, and translating personal insight. I do not feel like my views coincide with others because there are no definite right or wrong answers with art.
